10th-11th Graders: June 4th-June 19th Seniors: June 4th-June 10th
10th & 11th Graders:
Your final project will cover the next few weeks and has 2 major components; a 5-paragraph argumentative essay and a narrated PowerPoint/Slides presentation. Please read the general project overview any outline linked below before you begin any part of your project. Included in the overview and outline document is a suggested project calendar and rubrics for both parts of the project. For this project, you may choose any topic related to sports history or modern day sports. There is a list of suggested topic options included in the project overview. If there is a topic you would like to focus on not included in the list, please email me to discuss your topic proposal. To officially select a topic, complete the Topic Selection Google Form on Thursday, June 4th. Once you have decided on a topic, you must begin researching that topic. This project is an argumentative essay and presentation, meaning you will need to develop a research question based on your topic, then answer said question in your essay and presentation. Your question must be debatable, not explanatory. For example, if your topic was concussions in sports, your question could be "should sports organizations make an effort to protect players from concussions, or does the risk fall on the players shoulders for choosing to play a contact sport?". This question has multiple answers. Someone can argue against you. Once you have developed a research question you would like to move forward with, submit the question for review by completing the Research Question Proposal Google Form on Friday, June 5th. Your final essay is due June 17th, by 11:59 pm to Turnitin.com. Your final narrated PowerPoint/Slides presentation is due on June 19th via email by 5 pm. This project must be submitted for you to earn a letter grade for this semester.
