6/3 - REQUIRED: Imperialism Quiz Review Session & Imperialism Quiz (Unit 9 Assessment)
Optional Review Session: via Zoom from 10am-12pm for the Imperialism Quiz hosted by Ms. Quiring.
Take the Unit 9 Assessment: Imperialism Quiz. You have 30 minutes for the assessment. To complete the assessment, answer all questions on the Google Form in complete sentences and submit the form. The link will go live at 12pm and you will have until 6pm to submit the quiz. The quiz is open notes, but individual. Please respect the parameters of this assessment. OPTIONAL EXTENSION: WWI ALLIANCES MAP Print and color the map accordingly to which countries had alliances in 1914 at the start of WWI. Make sure to follow all directions. Once you have finished your map, turn in the worksheet to Turnitin.com. You should be able to submit PDF files, Google Docs, & Word Documents. If you don't have a scanner, take pictures of your maps, email them to yourself, copy and paste the pictures to a Google Doc or Word Document, and then submit that file to Turnitin.com. WWI Alliance Maps are due Thursday, June 4th. |

5/26 - 5/29 - REQUIRED ESSENTIAL ASSESSMENT: Imperialism Presentation Project
This week, you will be researching a topic area related to Imperialism. This project can be done individually or in partnerships. Groups and topics will be assigned based on your responses to the Google Form from last Friday. Your task is to research information on your topic and subtopics, create a PowerPoint/Slides presentation containing all required elements, and "present" that information through Zoom or Loom. You will not be presenting live. Instead, you will use Zoom or Loom to record your presentation (Share screen on Zoom or Record Screen on Loom) and submit your recording via email. You will have all 4 days this week to research and create your presentations. You will have Monday next week to record and submit your presentation. Presentations are due via email by 5 pm Monday, June 1st. This project will go in the assessment category and is worth 80 points. Please closely read the Project Overview document to make sure you are meeting all requirements for your project.
There will be a Questions and Answer Zoom Virtual Meeting for any students who wish to ask questions/get clarification help on Tuesday (May 26th) and Friday (May 29th) From 10am -12 pm. This is optional and not required. Ms. Quiring and I will both be there and available to assist as needed with your project. You can access the Zoom help sessions by using this link. |

Analyze a significant event that symbolized the tensions between native Indians and British colonists – the Sepoy Rebellion. Based on perspectives, this event is either a mutiny or a revolution. 5/12 - REQUIRED: Intro to Imperialism & Guns, Germs, & Steel - Ep. 3 (Part 1)
Read & take notes on the one Intro to Imperialism PowerPoint in your journal. Afterwards, watch the first half of Episode 3 of Guns, Germs, & Steel - "Into the Tropics". This is the final episode of the trilogy and is the culmination to Jared Diamond's theory about Geographic Luck. This episode takes us into the continent of Africa and seeks to continue to answer the question of how Geographic Luck allowed Europeans to dominate other parts of the world. This episode takes place mostly in Africa and covers the history, and modern day implications, of European imperialism in Africa. Please watch from the beginning to minute 26:34. Answer the corresponding questions on the Video Notes Google Form as you watch.
OPTIONAL EXTENSION: IMPERIALISM SUMMARIES Read the 4 summaries on Imperialism in various parts of the world. Answer the corresponding questions on the summary worksheets. Make sure to do the sidebar questions as well as the two questions at the bottom. You should also highlight the summaries for key info.
